About Bunny Oliver

Bunny Oliver – Painting in a direct manner with vivid colors and bold brushstrokes, the joy for me is in the creation, but the enthusiastic response of viewers validates my efforts. Beauty surrounds us, but we hurry and scurry and often don’t pay attention to it. I seek to portray the beauty in everyday scenes–to encourage viewers to take a moment to appreciate the way light falls on flowers in a garden, the charm of an outdoor cafe, or the brilliant colors in a sunset. Color excites me, and I love to emphasize it.

After years of sporadic efforts in learning to paint, Bunny attended a workshop from Ray Vinella in the mountains north of Taos, New Mexico in 1987. Inspired by Vinella and the spectacular setting, the more I painted, the more I was consumed with a desire to create beautiful images. Additional workshops with Vinella and other noted artists Kevin Macpherson, Don Ward, Gay Falkenberry, and Ron Rencher followed.

Two of my favorite honors are to have exhibited at the Biennale Internazionale dell’Arte Contemporanea in Florence, Italy, and Texas State Society’s Black Tie and Boots Inaugural Ball in Washington, DC. My work has been represented by galleries from California to Pennsylvania, and currently may be seen by appointment at my studio/gallery in Austin, Texas.
